Jewish Text

When Rabbi Zusha, lay crying on his deathbed, his students asked him “Rebbe, why are you so sad? Why do you cry? After all the mitzvot and good deeds you have done, you will surely have a great welcoming reward in heaven!”

“I’m afraid!” said Rabbi Zusha. “Because when I get to heaven, I know G-d’s not going to ask me: ‘Why weren’t you more like Moses?’ or ‘Why weren't you more like King David?’ But I’m afraid that G-d will ask: ‘Zusha, why weren't you more like Zusha?’ And then what will I say?”

Reflection to Text 1
The main message of this text is that G-d wants us to be who we are, and not copy other people. G-d made Zusha so he could be Zusha, not Moses nor King David.

This text applies to the Special Olympics because this organization was creaated so people with disabilities could be who they really are, and do the things they were made to do. They bring in that each athlete is empowered to be the best he/she can be.
